Algerian authorities convict a journalist for spreading false news and compromising the freedom of the private life of people

Algerian authorities have convicted the journalist, Hakim Shtwan; on charges of spreading false news, defamation, and violating the privacy of people.

This came after Shtwan published news about a moral scandal involving the Algerian speaker of the parliament, Slimane Shneen.

Consequently, the Algerian judiciary issued a decision to arrest him for 18 months; and to refer the case for judgment on March 29th.
