3-year prison sentence for a Sufism researcher for mocking religion, in Algeria

The Algerian court of Sidi M’hamed issued a verdict against the researcher in science of mysticism, Said Jab al-Khair; serving him three years in prison. They charged him with “mocking authentic hadiths from the noble Prophet’s Sunnah”, “mocking the knowledge of religion”, and mocking the pillar of Hajj and the ritual sacrifice.

The case against Al-Khair had been filed by a number of lawyers and university professors.
Furthermore, The University Professor Bashir Bouikharah – one of those who filed a lawsuit against Al-Khair – said; “We were looking forward to something more severe and cruel, but thank God for his success in this deterrent verdict for him and others, and thanks to everyone who contributed and supported.”
