Belarus authorities force a plane to land and arrest a journalist on board

Authorities in Belarus arrested the former editor of the NEXTA group, the opposition journalist, Roman Protasevich; after they changed the path of a Ryan plane, that was going to Lithuania.

Belarus authorities claimed that the plane path was diverted and forced to land in Minsk because of the presence of a bomb; according to Belarusian media, but no bomb was found.

Furthermore, the European Union condemned forcing the landing of the plane; and the arrest of journalist Protasevic, and demanded his immediate release.

In addition to that, they decided to impose additional sanctions on persons and entities in Belarus as soon as possible; and to avoid flying over these countries and to prevent their aircraft from using European airspace and airports.
