The Egyptian Coordination for Rights and Freedoms has warned the prison administration for the continued neglect of the Egyptian journalist’s health, Amer Abdel Moneim. His health deterioration is as a result of his eyes infection; which may lead to the risk of losing his eyesight if the neglect continues; according to a statement issued by the Coordination Committee today.
In the statement, the Coordination Committee confirmed that the prison administration refused to transfer Abdel Moneim to the hospital; or even to be examined or operated by a specialized doctor outside the prison.
In fact, the Egyptian security forces arrested Abdel Moneim at his home in Giza on the 19th of December; because of his articles that included criticism of the policies of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
Also, the Supreme State Security Prosecution in Egypt issued a decision to arrest journalist Amer Abdel Moneim pending investigation in the case number (1017). They charged Abdel Moneim with spreading false news and participating in a terrorist group in achieving its goals.
