“If freedom of speech is taken away, then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.”
What Is ADALA?
The ADALA Project is an independent Nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing freedom of information, supporting bold media initiatives, defending the rights of political prisoners, activists, journalists, and press organizations to report freely throughout the world. We fight for human dignity and report on violations committed especially in the Middle East, North Africa and Asia.
Our History: The Arab world is rife with a rich history: Bedouin tents, Arabic coffee, and the sand dunes of the Sahara. However, free speech has never been completely synonymous with the Middle East.
This is where ADALA comes in: we will assist journalists at risk, develop capacity through media literacy, introduce emerging media technologies, as well as training in digital and physical security, to ensure their survival.
Our Vision: ADALA wants the Eastern world to thrive as much as anyone else. But, in today’s landscape, journalists are being repressed, both physically and digitally, at a scale not previously experienced.
Newscasters are shamed, punished, and sometimes even executed. Likewise, media groups are sometimes forced to sugarcoat articles and videos. Audiences in the Arab world and Asia, as a result, are starved of the truth.
Our Mission: ADALA, meaning “justice” in Arabic, is our bedrock principle. Each journalist should be granted justice, along with the basic human rights of freedom, safety, and security as well.
In conclusion, our mission is to reach freedom and justice for all journalists and press institutions in the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia. We believe that together we can.

FREEDOM OF SPEECH
Freedom of information is what distinguishes a democratic country from a dictatorship. In fact, the number one source of information world wide is the press, that is why journalists and politicians are celebrated in democratic countries whilst getting assassinated in others.
ADALA seeks justice for journalists and political activists that are targeted and killed around the world.
SAFETY & SECURITY
The Middle East, North Africa, and Asia has one of the highest rates of injustice throughout the world. Political activists, journalists, and politicians are being killed and imprisoned with nowhere to seek justice. This is where ADALA plays a big role in fighting back and seeking justice.
Who are we?
Why we believe we can make a difference?
Coming from a long background in news and media in the Middle East and North Africa.
We have experienced violations and injustice ourselves, We have been imprisoned unlawfully, we have been shot at, we have been bombed and least of all we have been silenced.
We have farewelled colleagues who were killed in the line of duty, and watched helplessly while others were arrested and incarcerated.
We are headquartered in Washington DC and aided by our 22 offices around the world.
We believe that the best way to defend and fight for freedom of speech is using the Media. And Our goal is to produce the following to reach our goals:
Weekly reports: Weekly reports on violations of press freedom and disinformation campaigns throughout the Eastern world. Reaching out to media channels and agents to help fight those violations and rescue journalists suspected of being at-risk.
Quarterly magazine: Quarterly ADALA magazine distributed to all media outlets worldwide, contains the most recent information on ongoing violations against freedom of speech.
Lectures: The ADALA quarterly event hosting world leaders and decision makers visiting Washington, shall discuss issues of relevance to our mission. We aim to convene monthly once the epidemic is cleared up.
Annual reports: An annual aggregate of violations of press freedom, and disinformation campaigns will be assessed and categorized where each country and region shall be graded upon their performance. The ratings will then be presented to the White House, the State Department and Congress then released to the press.
Annual gala: An Annual Gala Awards Dinner in Washington DC, honoring the best journalists, politicians and activists: the heroes fighting for press freedom, and battling disinformation and hate speech throughout the region.
Media Accelerator: An accelerator for startups in the media field who seek to combine emerging technologies with media initiatives to better reach their audience with fact based, thus promoting freedom of information whilst countering disinformation.
